Living Our Best Life Today
Welcome to Living our Best Life Today. This site is about finding our way to Happier, Healthier and Wealthier lives. We will look at ways of being happier and improving not only our lives, but the lives of those around us. We will also share ideas to make our lives easier, and even product reviews so we get the best products for our money.
Let's face it, most of us are not living the lives we dreamed of as young women (or men) We might of dreamed of Happy Forever After. Maybe your dream was of a fabulously successful career, or of traveling the world experiencing different cultures and seeing amazing sights.
Sometimes our lives went a different direction from choices we made, or situations beyond our control. Maybe we thought "I am just going to take a year off", but that year turned into 10 or 15 years (or more). Maybe you raised a family or took care of aging parents, today you are looking back with some regrets. Regrets not for raising your family or caring for your parents when they needed you, but feeling you missed your chance.
Do me a favor Take your wrist in one hand and feel for your pulse. Do you feel it? You do? Great that means you are still alive and you can still make your dreams come true. You may not want exactly the same dream today, and that is okay. Have you ever heard the country song "Unanswered Prayers". Sometimes the best gift God can give us, is by not giving the answer we want at the time.
Depression
Depression is common, and some may need to seek medical intervention. This is especially true if the root cause is due to a chemical imbalance. Medication does have a place in cases of severe depression. For many just reaching out and getting involved with others in need, can give us that purpose and sense of satisfaction we need. Get involved there is a world in need out there.
Service
What you are passionate about? What tugs at your heart? Children in need? Neglected Animals? The elderly? The enviroment? Volunteers are needed for every Cause, to improve our world and the lives of those in need. We will discuss different areas of service and some possible areas where we can make a difference.
Building Relationships
Do you remember when you were a child? You could just walk up to another kid and ask if they wanted to play? It's not so easy for us as grownups. We might make a couple casual friends at a job, but today we don't stay at the same job for decades. So many of us can end up very isolated, especially singles. Our married friends hang out with other couples, often even in our church circles.
I would like to suggest that we build on our friendships. Studies have proven that these close relationships are beneficial for our physical and emotional health. Plan a girls only weekend. How about starting off with a grownup slumber party, friendly pets included. Plan it for a hotel or for a budget friendly weekend someone could host the event. Look for activities to share with your circle and attend events together. Sometimes it may take you out of your comfort zone, but it is a lot healthier then a night of binge watching tv eating ice cream. So even when you think I don't want to go, do it anyway. You may surprise yourself and have a blast.
Does your Church or Temple have a singles group that includes members over 30. If not start one and be inclusive, many seniors live life of isolation and would enjoy an afternoon at the beach or a nice picnic in the park. Your goal doesn't need to be finding a mate, it is all about building community and relationships.
Giving of Yourself
There are oganization all over the world that need our help. Choose something that touches your heart. Maybe there is a cause that you don't even know exist that you will care passionately about. It may be working with Children, pets or the elderly. It may even be a cause from another continent like raising money to build wells in drought stricken countries. We will examine some different possibilities and maybe you will find your passion.
Building Friendships
Today many of us have become more isolated. As we move through life stages past high school maybe we married and raising a family kept us so busy that we didn't take time to nurture our friendships, We have became more aquaintances then close friends. The kids are now married, building careers and busy with their own lives. Some may be single again and are okay with being alone, or maybe looking for love again. We would all benefit from building our relationships.
Saving Money
We will look at ways of saving money while living better. Product reviews to save you money and time. The power of buying in bulk even if single, and no it doesn't mean you have to stock a years supply of toilet paper under your bed.
We all need to be working on building our retirement finances we don't want to be eating cat food or working a menial job to be able to eat in our 80's (if we can find someone to hire us). We are living longer and we need to prepare for a longer retirement. This should include picking up new marketable skills. If you are ready to improve your finances.
